Chapter 4: Selling the domains

Quick flipping

For the quick flip, just add on whatever profit you will settle for. After paying $10 for a domain, anything above $10 is profit. I recommend a set price of $35. Do not get emotionally attached to your domain name, this is a business and although you may have invested in what you think is a good find, unless you're developing the domain into a site sell it for your regular retail price.

Domain development

This is a whole different ball game, so unless you know or are willing to learn how to develop and market a website, we'll stick to the quick domain flip and come to this later.

Where to sell

The links on this blog are a few good forums where you can advertise your domains/sites and also find people searching for domains.

Ebay is very good for flipping domains, just search ebay for domain names and use these auctions to inspire you to create some.
http://www.template-o-matic.com/ This is the best tool to use for creating auctions.

Finally the big ones godaddy,sedo etc. These are for selling the big sites with some traffic and huge keywords

More to come . . .

Chapter 3: What to do with your domains

Domain parking

Between the time of buying and selling your domains they need to be made useful. There are two routes to choose; either employ someone to develop a website unless you are capable in which case you could develop a website and have something more to sell than just a domain. Or park your domain with one of the listed services and earn per click on your domain.

Build a client list

FIRSTLY make a list of every person that comes into contact with you regarding your domains for future reference. This is because when you eventually get into the domain flipping game, you will have a list of clients to e-mail your latest domains for sale. This is how you will generate a lot of your income.

Build a blog or website

Unless you are competent enough to build a website, visit blogger.com or wordpress,com and build a simple site listing your domains and any information about them. This is my basic example http://wholesale-domains.blogspot.com

Where to Buy Domain names

www.GoDaddy.com

Everyone's favourite choice of domain retailer and trader because it is well known, easy to use and free to sign up.
You can register .coms from around $10 plus there are plenty of available discount codes just by doing a simple google search.

FreshDrop.net

This is one of the many tools to find expiring or expired domains. It also has a user friendly interface to help define what type of domain you are searching for.
Everything is laid out as needed as shown in the following tutorial.

There are several more services similar to freshdrop theyare listed below.

Expect to pay:

Domain prices range from 89 cents for .infos up in to the millions for top ones.
Depending on how much capital you have to invest and what you will do with the domain leaves it open to how much you can pay.

For quick flips, you want to register new domains which will be around $10 to register .coms $15 for .nets.
On godaddy there are $5 domains, which are expired domains. These are worth buying because they are aged and may possibly have a little traffic but a registration fee is required to register these.

If you want domains with traffic, age or simply just a highly sought after domain it's time to go to auction, which i'm sure you know how it works.

Chapter 2: Choosing domain names

There are many types of domains to invest in, but only a few types are a safe and solid investment.
In this chapter i will take you through choosing your domains and what you should expect to pay for them.

What not to buy

Please please please do not buy typo domains or names that are extremely similar to registered names.
You may think these company's will pay you generously for them or that you will receive lots of direct traffic but all you'll get is a big fat lawsuit!
Seriously there is a lot of law involved in domain name trading of which unless you are a specialist lawyer you need to steer clear of, as they will get you no where anyway.

What to buy

When finding generic domains i tend to stray more towards .coms, .nets as a secondary which are still very good. .orgs unless they are very special i am not such a fan of them. -s

Generic domains

Which to buy? I use a the google keyword tool for this - https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

So i typed in a few keywords from the list provided. As an example i chose the keyword 'dog', typed it in to the keyword tool and changed the list preference to global monthly search. This way you can see the most searched keyword and it turns out 'dog' was searched 68 million times a month. Now obviously i can't get dog.com/net or org, so move down the list to something less popular. I came across 'dog kennel' with 450,000 monthly searches. It's rare to find a word with so many searches and the domains free.

Short. Brandable. Pornouncable

In this market you will encounter something similar to CVCVC.com or LLLLL.com.
C = Consonant
V = Vowel
L = Letter
N = number

Example is oobly.com VVCCV.com (y = vowel), this is a prime example of a pronouncable, brandable (like google or ebay) and would be a good buy.

3 Letter domains are golden nuggets and can be flogged for a lot of money
You will NOT find any 3/4 letter .coms unregistered as there are very few combinations.

Chapter 1: What is domain flipping?

Everybody knows how lucrative property investment and trading is and most know that most people cannot afford to invest in a second property let alone a portfolio of them.
What if you could buy properties for $10 a piece and flip them for at least double what you paid for them?
Even if you didn't sell your property you could 'rent' it for $0.05 a click.
Where a down payment on a house is $20,000, you can own a piece of cyber property for around $10.
The beauty of domain trading is that the profit you can make on one domain is limitless.
